STAMFORD, CT — WWE released over a dozen wrestlers from the company on Thursday, according to multiple reports. The cuts span over the main roster as well as NXT, which serves as a training ground for signed talent.
Among the cuts are former Raw women's champion Nia Jax and former NXT champions Keith Lee and Karrion Cross.
Lince Dorado, B-Fab, Eva Marie, Gran Metalik, Harry Smith and Mia Yim were also let go from the main roster. Trey Baxter, Katrina Cortez, Jessi Kamea, Oney Lorcan, Franky Monet, Ember Moon, Jeet Rama, Zayda Ramier, and Scarlett were released from NXT.
SI reported that the wrestlers were told they were released because of budget cuts. The NY Post reported that one of the reasons Jax was cut was because she is unvaccinated.
On Thursday, WWE issued its third quarter 2021 results.
According to a news release, "revenue was $255.8 million, an increase of 15 percent or $34.2 million, primarily driven by higher ticket sales and, to a lesser extent, venue merchandise sales, resulting from the Company's return to ticketed live events, including SummerSlam."
WWE, which is headquartered in Stamford, has made several cuts over the last year.
