County Health Officials Report 651 New COVID-19 Cases, 4 Virus-Related Deaths

By Elizabeth Ireland, Times of San Diego November 5, 2021 San Diego County public health officials reported 651 new cases of COVID-19 and four additional virus-related deaths Friday. A total of 22,415 new tests were reported to the county on Friday, and the percentage of new positive cases over the past week was 3.1%, according to the county health department. There were 289 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the county as of Friday, a decrease of one from Thursday, according to the latest state figures. Of these, 81 people were in intensive care, down from 82 the previous day. On the vaccine front, the number of county residents who have received at least one shot is now nearly 2.55 million — or 90.9% of residents 12 and older. More than 2.31 million, or 82.4% of that cohort, are fully vaccinated. The latest data increased the county's cumulative coronavirus totals to 373,831 cases and 4,250 fatalities since the pandemic began. City News Service contributed to this article.
