Here are the top stories in Anchorage today: Anchorage's appointed library director, Judy Norton Eledge, resigned on Friday, according to Mayor Dave Bronson's office. Bronson appointed Eledge, a longtime Alaska educator, in August, following a scuffle with the Anchorage Assembly over his first choice for the library director, Sami Graham. The Assembly refused to confirm Graham, saying she failed to meet minimum qualifications for the position. (Anchorage Daily News) A new team of Anchorage first responders focuses on mental health crises. Officials say it frees up hospital beds and public safety resources. The Mobile Crisis Team pairs a mental health clinician with a paramedic to respond to behavioral health calls. But its future is unclear due to proposed budget cuts. (Anchorage Daily News) The weather system that dumped heavy rains in parts of south-central Alaska over the past week damaged roads in the ski community of Girdwood. Officials in the community, which is part of the Municipality of Anchorage, hope to receive financial help to respond to the damage.
