Lead guitarist wanted for new band starting up in Sarasota area. If you can sing backup, that’s a big plus, but not essential. We will play 60’s-00’s classic rock and classic soul/R&B, with a few other types of tunes occasionally thrown in for variety (but no rap, metal, traditional country or originals, and no more than a few blues tunes). The specific tunes we’ll play will be chosen by the band as a whole, but we’d be happy to send you a song list to illustrate the kind of varied, non-cliché repertoire we have in mind. We already have (i) a professionally-trained female lead singer who also plays keyboard (besides lots of band experience, she has sung at Carnegie Hall), (ii) a skilled bass player with over 40 years’ experience, and (iii) a solid veteran drummer who also sings backup. We expect to add a male lead singer as soon as we can find one. We are seeking a reliable, team-player type who is quality-oriented, committed to playing every tune well as a matter of pride and professionalism, and willing to put in the necessary homework. This project will require learning new material and a lot of work. “Just show up and play what I already know” types would not be a good fit. Rehearsals will be once a week, day and time TBD.
