Film Series The First Step FilmmakerSunday 3p - 6p (4 sessions) February-March: 2/21, 2/28, 3/7, 3/14 Session 1: Telling A Story: Brainstorm, Test, Pitching And Meaning Session 2: Tools, Critical Decisions & Sound Session 3: Show & Tell & Dissection Session 4: Festivals, Working With Actors, Scripts & Resource Learning Workshop size: minimum 4, maximum 6 This workshop launches you into taking the first steps of short-form filmmaking. The workshop will introduce you to concepts in telling a story, tools and critical thinking in terms of results, and how to observe common resources and everyday experiences to transform your ideas into an interesting story on film. We will make and show our short films and discuss the power of filmmaking and the freedom it provides. Through The First Step Filmmaker workshop, you will discover ways to tell stories that you can build from; leaving with new knowledge on how to start your film concept! If you have a child who is younger than the age requirement, special consideration will be made based on maturity level and experience. Someone will get back to you within 24 hours. If approved, you will be asked to complete a parent/guardian form. JERRY J CUNNINGHAM Is a director, producer, and writer who tells thought provoking stories through exceptional shot composition. Jerry started his career as a photographer and DJ, which helped him to integrate sound design into his projects. He has worked for Nike, MTV, The History Channel, LACMA and Netflix alongside creating personal short films which have received awards at various film festivals. Jerry is exceptional at understanding both cast and crew and directs with clear goals in mind to produce content on budgets and schedules that other companies would consider impossible to work with. CHECK IN + COVID 19 *This workshop may be rescheduled depending on current Covid regulations. The instructor will determine if the program can be run virtually. Refunds will be made if you choose not to participate in any rescheduled workshop. * Visitors and artists must wear a mask and practice social distancing while in the building and outdoors. * Weather permitting, programs may be held outdoors. * All visitors, artists and guests must check in with your artist facilitator. Please provide a valid and current ID (drivers license, student or military). You will be admitted electronically via Eventbrite under your registered name, no need to bring a print out of your ticket. Program Cancellation Root Studio reserves the right to cancel or reschedule workshops at our discretion.
