SHINE Day Festival & Holiday Market features Shopping, Pictures with Santa, Reindeer Games, Food Vendors, Craft Stations, Workshops, & more! In addition to our evening Shine Light Festival, we are also hosting our Shine Day Festival & Holiday Market on December 4th-5th! This family-focused daytime event features: ~ Photos with Santa ~ Storytime with Mrs. Claus ~ Nature-inspired Kids Crafts ~ Reindeer Games for the young and young at heart ~ Delicious local food vendors and trucks ~ S’mores roasting, music, caroling, ~ Wreath-making workshops (pre-registration & additional fee required) ~ Shopping with over 20 vendors! The Holiday Market will showcase a variety of one-of-a-kind gifts and stocking stuffers from local artisans and boutique businesses. *Saturday features an opportunity to buy a combo ticket featuring admission to BOTH the Weekend Day Festival and the evening Shine Light Festival. More about the mission of SHINE - A Celebration of Nature and Wonder At SHINE, we hope you will embrace the outdoors by experiencing nature in new ways. From considering how the lights can transform the shapes of the trees, plants, and flowers into unique works of art by the cast of shadows and light. By pausing along the path to the Sam M. Welborn Camellia Garden, as you take in the Walk of Stars, tune out the man-made noise and listen for the sounds of winter. It is a much different sound than what you hear from the songs of the summer with croaking frogs and rhythmic cicadas. Inhale the crisp air with the hints of roasting marshmallows and fire smoke in the distance. Nature provides us with the opportunity to create wonderful memories, have fun, and feel new things about how we engage with the world around us. Even in the winter, when all but the camellias seem to be dead, we know it is only nature taking a short rest before it springs back to life in all its colorful glory. We believe the beauty of the Garden during SHINE and this winter season will leave lasting memories in all who visit. Thus, encouraging and reminding us why it matters to be a good steward of our natural world and continue embracing the outdoors.
