Description
WESTPORT, CT — The town will hold Veterans Day services on Nov. 11 in the main parking lot of the VFW 399, located at 465 Riverside Avenue in Westport.
In a news release, Phil Delgado of VFW Post 399 said the program will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a patriotic concert by the Westport Community Band and services will begin at 11 a.m. The public is invited.
The program will also include remarks and a proclamation issued by First Selectman Jim Marpe, as well as the placing of a memorial wreath by members of VFW Post 399. Taps will be played by Westport Community Band trumpeters.
Delgado said it is recommended that participants and attendees use their judgement regarding masks, particularly if they are in a higher risk category for severe COVID-19 illness.
In the event of inclement weather, services will be moved to the main hall within the VFW. The town's current coronavirus safety protocols require unvaccinated individuals to wear masks if the event is moved indoors.
