STAMFORD, CT — A 31-year-old Stamford man is under arrest after police said he pistol-whipped a victim which caused the gun to discharge during a fight in the downtown area last month. The incident took place on Oct. 17 around 12:15 a.m. in front of several restaurants and bars on Summer Street, according to Capt. Richard Conklin of the Stamford Police Department. A fight between several people broke out and there was some pushing and shoving. Conklin said Kadeem Sadio went to pistol-whip someone and the gun discharged. No one was struck by gunfire, and only minor injuries were reported, Conklin said. The SPD's Bureau of Investigations (BCI), led by Sgt. Bryan Cooper and investigators Bryan Cooper, Phil Neri, Luis Serna and Frank Lacona, worked on the case. "They did a lot of work. They were able to pull videos from a number of locations and work with witnesses and they were able to get an arrest warrant for Sadio," Conklin said. Sadio was taken into custody without incident during an early morning raid at his family's West Broad Street home on Friday, according to Conklin. BCI, the Special Response Team (SRT), narcotics team, and patrol and K9 units assisted in the raid. During a search, officers found a 9 mm Taurus handgun in a vehicle that Conklin said looks to be the same gun used in the October assault. An arrest warrant charges Sadio with criminal use of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment and first-degree criminal attempt at assault, Conklin said. Sadio was being held on a court-set bond of $500,000, Conklin said. Sadio has a lengthy criminal record, Conklin added, with arrests in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts. "We'll work with his probation officer, so there could be other charges coming. There's a good chance he'll be charged with the gun down the road," Conklin noted.
