7-Hour Standoff Ends In Arrest: Milford Police

MILFORD, CT — A Milford man was involved in a seven-hour standoff with police in September and he was charged on an arrest warrant this week, police said. On Sept. 21, police responded to a Railroad Avenue residence on a report of a man threatening to harm himself and blow up the apartment he was in, police said. Officers talked the man out of his apartment after seven hours of negotiating, police said. The man identified as, Zachary Gallipoli, 33, was sent to a hospital for an evaluation, police said. Possible explosive components were discovered in Gallipoli's apartment, police said. With the assistance of the Connecticut State Police Bomb Squad the apartment was deemed safe, police said. Gallipoli was taken into custody on Nov. 4 on an arrest warrant and is charged with: Possession of an Assault WeaponCriminal Intent Illegal PossessionPossession of a High Capacity MagazineFailure to Report Address Change for Pistol PermitGallipoli was released on a $75,000 bond, police said.
