The church has a strong history of mission that includes leading the founding of two senior living facilities, involvement with a nearby, predominantly low-income elementary school, and supporting various agencies that serve needy and homeless populations in the DC metro area. An “Earth Care Congregation” that is committed to stewardship of the environment, Lewinsville also aspires increasingly to become involved in combating systemic racism and inequality. Who you are: You are a creative, resourceful and experienced communications professional with a heart for connecting with and ministering to God’s people — both inside the church and outside in the community. You are a flexible, strategic thinker and a self-starter who is capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously. You have strong written and digital communications skills and enjoy working both as part of a ministry team and as a solo communications practitioner. Your areas of experience and expertise include: Social media engagementWebsite design, publishing and analyticsGraphic designVideo editing and creationPhotographyProficiency with software and other digital tools that facilitate all of the above What you’ll get to do: Working closely with (reporting to) Lewinsville’s senior pastor/head of staff, you will be a key partner in the church’s ministry both to the congregation (internal communications) and to the community we serve (external communications). You will develop strategies for enhancing connection and engagement between Lewinsville and people in the Northern Virginia/DC area community and for ensuring our Lewinsville congregation remains informed about and connected to our ministry and mission — and you will bring these strategies to life through a variety of effective and impactful communications activities. You will be proactive in seeking out stories about the church’s ministry and in developing creative ways to communicate those stories, and you will collaborate with other staff and ministries of the church in support of their communication needs. In addition to developing and implementing new and creative outreach communication strategies, tactical areas of responsibility will include: Design and day-to-day management of Lewinsville’s website and social media channelsContent creation for and management of the church’s video channels (including YouTube)Creation and deployment of email and print updates concerning the life and ministries of the churchDesign and production of visual communication assets (e.g., outdoor banners, slides displayed on screens in various church settings, etc.)Creation and management of the annual communications budget The Director of Communications Ministry is a 25-hour-per-week role, and compensation will be competitive based on the experience level of the successful candidate.
