RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Do you want to learn more about Orange County's largest recycled water reservoir? A free tour is being offered to all Rancho Santa Margarita residents who want to learn more about the city's water supplier.
The Rancho Santa Margarita Water District is hosting a free Trampas Canyon Reservoir & Damn Tour, and the Rancho Santa Margarita community is invited to register and attend. The tour takes place on Nov. 14, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
According to the Rancho Santa Margarita Water District's website, Trampas Canyon Reservoir represents "a bold step forward for a sustainable water supply for future generations." It is an eco-enhancing resource that captures and stores highly treated wastewater so it can be used for irrigation instead of drinking water.
The reservoir was completed in October 2020, and currently has the capacity to hold 1.6 billion gallons of treated recycled water.
Residents interested in participating in the free tour must register through the city's website. The tour bus leaves the Rancho Santa Margarita Bell Tower at 3:30 p.m. and the tour is expected to last until 5:30 p.m.
