PLEASANTON, CA — The city of Pleasanton has tapped a recruiting firm to spearhead the search for its next city manager.
Avery Associates was selected by the Pleasanton City Council after it conducted reviews of several recruiting firms, the city announced this week.
A new city manager is expected to begin in early 2022, and the search should take four to six months, the city said. Avery Associates and the council will work together to identify a list of top candidates.
When City Manager Nelson Fialho retires Nov. 30 after three decades of public service, Assistant City Manager Brian Dolan will be tapped to serve in the interim, effective Dec. 1.
Dolan has served as assistant city manager since 2015 and previously served as the city's community development director for seven years.
