WHEATON, IL — Wheaton has planned a number of ways to honor veterans for Veterans Day 2021. The tributes include a Field of Honor Flags, a donation drive and a ceremony set for Nov. 11. "It's wonderful to see Wheaton's organizations, businesses and residents working together to organize Veterans Day events honoring the men and women who served our country," Wheaton Mayor Phil Suess told Patch. He added, "Our community consistently shows its support for our Armed Forces, and it's outstanding to have these opportunities for everyone in Wheaton to thank our veterans." Dozens of American flags will unfurl on Wheaton's Field of Honor Flags at Memorial Park, 225 Karlskoga Ave. from Nov. 7 through Nov. 11. Flags will be put in daily at 3 p.m. As dusk falls each day, performers will sing the National Anthem and play "Taps" and bagpipe music.
