PALM DESERT, CA — A convicted felon was behind bars Thursday following a Palm Desert search warrant that turned up illegal drugs and cash, according to the sheriff's department. Jeramey Travis Payne, 28, of Palm Desert was arrested shortly before noon Wednesday in the 74000 block of El Cortez Way and booked into Indio's John Benoit Detention Center on suspicion of violating his parole terms, jail records show. During a search warrant service at the address, Gang Task Force Officers found several hundred suspected fentanyl pills, suspected methamphetamine and cocaine, as well as $14,000 in cash and items indicative of illegal narcotics sales, according to the sheriff's department. Payne is being held without bail and is due in court Nov. 12, jail records show. A search of Riverside County court documents showed no results for Payne.
