PITTSBURGH, PA — Theoretically, the Steelers should have little difficulty defeating the Chicago Bears when the two teams meet on Monday.
Momentum is on Pittsburgh's side: The Steelers (4-3) are riding a three-game winning streak and the Bears (3-5) are on a three-game losing streak. Location is on the Steelers side: The team has won 19 straight Monday Night Football games at home. The Steelers' offensive line, putrid at the beginning of the season, has played better in recent weeks.
But the Steelers have a history of playing down to their competition and losing at least one game per season to a team they are heavily favored to defeat. Many fans already have penciled in victories against the Bears this week and the absolutely awful Detroit Lions (0-8).
Let's hope the Steelers haven't done the same. Games are played not in theory but on a field.
