PA Mother Hid Dead Child's Body In Wall For Months: D.A.

CHARLEROI, PA — A woman is accused of hiding her 1-year-old child's body in an apartment wall for months after the child died earlier this year. Police discovered the body on Thursday. Kylie Wilt, 25, of Charleroi, Washington County, has been charged with concealing the death of a child, abuse of a corpse, obstruction of justice, tampering with evidence and welfare fraud, according to Washington County District Attorney Jason Walsh's office. Charleroi Regional Police went to Wilt's Lookout Avenue residence to assist Children & Youth Services personnel with locating the child. Wilt had claimed the child was with someone else out of state but was lying about the child's whereabouts, according to Walsh's office. During the investigation, Wilt admitted that the child died in February and the body was placed in a crate. When Wilt moved to her current address, Wilt placed the crate with the body inside a bedroom wall then covered it with drywall and new paint to conceal it, according to Walsh's office. Police located the remains in that location. The investigation is continuing.
