A vacancy exists for a Youth Workforce Career Counselor to work within the Office of Student Services at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit! The Youth Workforce Counselor will provide career counseling to, and coordinate career support services for, Montgomery County in-school and out-of-school eligible youth and young adults ages 14-24 under the provisions of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) within the MontcoWorks NOW program. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in counseling, social work, human resources preferredGuidance and/or career counseling experience with youth ages 14-24Experience in a workforce development program preferredDemonstrated ability Bilingual/Spanish speaking preferredKnowledge of workforce and employment landscapeDemonstrated coaching and training skillsAbility to work with and relate to at-risk youth and young adults with diverse backgroundsProvide own transportationOriginal certificates of clearance from the State Police, the Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBIDuties & Responsibilities: Work closely with WIOA-eligible youth and young adults in all areas of career and workforce development.Facilitate the recruitment of WIOA-eligible youth and young adults for workforce services.Keep appropriate case records of all youth and young adult clients in the program. Including the completion of eligibility requirements, updated case notes, exit and follow-up documentation, etc.Compile monthly statistical performance reports of service area activities.Develop and maintain relationships with the school districts, career and technical education providers, community colleges, and other education and training providers.Develop and expand relationships with business and non-profit partners to establish work-based learning opportunities, job-shadows, internships, and paid work experiences for clients.Maintain database of contacts with other career services, education, business partners.Establish working relationships with collaborating agencies within the community.Assist with college and career readiness training programs in conjunction with other program staff.Attend all staff meetings and related in-service training sessions.Maintain confidentiality.Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Program Administrator for College and Career Readiness.
