JOLIET, IL — On a sunny Friday afternoon, city of Joliet public works employees and Joliet police supervisors oversaw the continuation of a downtown Joliet holiday tradition. A large Christmas tree was placed at Van Buren Plaza by Chellino Crane.
At the end of this month, the city of Joliet will be bringing back its long-time annual Holiday Parade, the day after Thanksgiving. The parade was not held last year because of the pandemic.
Before the parade starts, city of Joliet officials light the city's giant Christmas tree at Van Buren Plaza for the Christmas holidays.
City public works staff told Patch that this year's Christmas tree came from a house in the 1400 block of Roosevelt Street, which is near Midland Avenue and Black Road.
"She loved the tree, but it took up her whole backyard," a city worker told Joliet Patch.
