ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving a harassing message, an egging, bicycles turned in, shoplifting, stolen converters and a DUI. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Harassing message A resident in the 200 block of Maison Court told police Sunday that he received a suspicious and harassing text message regarding his time in the U.S. military. An officer found the suspect and told him to have no further contact with the resident. Egging A house in the 600 block of South Fairview Avenue was egged between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday, which was Halloween. The resident believed it occurred after his son was in a disagreement with someone else earlier in the night. Bicycles turned in A person on Tuesday turned in to the police three bicycles found in June. The first was chained to a tree near Cedar and Prairie Path. It was a red and black, 12-speed Schwinn Vitesse. The second was a red and black Hoffman Wing bicycle that was left next to a fire hydrant at Berens Park. The third was a purple and white Schwinn Ranger bicycle found near Pioneer Park. License plate missing A woman said that she traded her vehicle at Elite Car Outlet, 178 N. Route 83, over the weekend, but did not remove her front and rear license plates. When she returned to the dealership to retrieve the license plates, the front one was missing. Shotgun shell turned in Someone made a donation of a 12-gauge shotgun shell Monday at the Goodwill Store, 675 W. North Ave. An officer retrieved the ammunition and placed it into evidence for destruction. Converters stolen A catalytic converter was stolen from a car between Oct. 25 and Nov. 2 while it was parked in a parking lot in the 600 block of West Grand Avenue. Catalytic converters were stolen from activity buses between Thursday and Tuesday at Sandburg Middle School, 345 E. St. Charles Road. A converter was also stolen at 2 p.m. Friday from a van owned by Elmhurst School District 205 at its Transition Center property, 407 W. St. Charles Road. Harassment A resident in the 100 block of South Grace told police Tuesday that a suspect had been harassing her and her friends. An officer asked the suspect to no longer have contact with the resident. Sexual assault A woman told police Tuesday that she was sexually assaulted Aug. 15 at Extended Stay America, 550 W. Grand Ave. The case is pending further investigation. Shoplifting Two females entered 7-Eleven, 155 E. First St., on Tuesday, and one of them stole a box containing 10 vape devices. The video surveillance showed one of them making a purchase while the other walked into the employee area behind the counter and took the box. The first suspect was described as white, 5-foot-2 to 5-foot-5, 140 to 160 pounds, having long brown or blond hair, and wearing a long black jacket, black pants, white shoes and a tan shirt. The other one was described as Hispanic, 5-foot-2 to 5-foot-5, 140 to 160 pounds, having medium length hair, and wearing a gray sweatsuit, and black and white shoes. The case is pending an investigation. Warrant Ray Lakeith, 32, of North Aurora, was arrested about 9 p.m. Wednesday at St. Charles and Prospect on a warrant and on charges of driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and no rear license plate light. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. DUI Saul Sanchez Flores, 26, of Cicero, was arrested about 3 a.m. Monday in the 300 block of North York Street on charges of DUI, operating an uninsured vehicle, possession of marijuana by a driver and expired registration. He was released on bond. According to a police report, officers arrested Flores after he pulled behind a closed business. Driving violations Osman Carrillo, 19, of Addison, was cited about 9:30 p.m. Monday at Grand and Church on charges of no valid driver's license and operating a motor vehicle while a video device is active in view of the driver. He was released on bond. Yordanny Herrera, 19, of Bensenville, was cited about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of North York Street on charges of no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, transportation of open alcohol and one headlight. He was released on bond. Alchino Campbell, 23, of Chicago, was cited about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Interstate 290 and St. Charles on charges of no valid driver's license and passing on the shoulder. He was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
