Description
BERKELEY, CA — A report of a prowler early Sunday morning led to the arrest of an attempted rape suspect, the Berkeley Police Department said.
The suspect was identified as 39-year-old man with no address, police said.
Officers responding to a residence in the 2800 block of Wallace Street at around 1:35 a.m. on the report of a prowler seen looking through a teenage girl's bedroom window heard a woman screaming for help when they arrived on the scene, police said.
A woman who emerged from a residence told officers she awoke to a naked man inside her bedroom, and that he was still inside, police said.
Officers found the man hiding in a bathtub—naked from his waist down, police said.
Prosecutors on Tuesday charged the suspect with attempted forcible rape, burglary, attempted burglary, and several criminal enhancements, police said.
