UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The rate of COVID-19 cases throughout the Upper West Side has fallen below 1 percent, according to city data. From Oct. 26-Nov. 1, the 10025, 10024 and 10023 zip codes all saw a low 7-day positive rate among those who were tested for COVID-19. Here's a look at the numbers. 10025 (Manhattan Valley/Morningside Heights/Upper West Side) 7-day percent positive: 0.58 percentPeople tested (reported to date): 5,711Positive cases (reported to date): 3310024 (Upper West Side) 7-day percent positive: 0.93 percentPeople tested (reported to date): 2,806Positive cases (reported to date): 2610023 (Lincoln Square) 7-day percent positive: 0.63 percentPeople tested (reported to date): 3,340Positive cases (reported to date): 21The lower coronavirus case rate should come as a relief to the Upper West Side, as last month eight neighborhood schools dealt with partial or full classroom closures after their students tested positive for COVID-19. Hospitalizations, too, have gone down throughout the neighborhood. City data from Sept. 25 to Oct. 22 shows that in the 10025 zip code there were 12 people hospitalized and in 10023 there were five hospitalizations. Hospital numbers for the 10024 zip code were unavailable. From Sept. 25 to Oct. 22, no deaths were reported in the 10025 zip code, and information on 10024 and 10023 was unavailable.
