Would anyone save our old boy??

We have had our husky lab Anubis since he was a puppy. He looked like a little polar bear. He is now 13 and has pretty bad arthritis in his back legs. Last week, our toddler bopped him on the head after we took him on a too-long walk, and he bit her. Unfortunately, we know he is not compatible with children. We know it's probably time to say goodbye and plan to put him down in a couple days. But the idea of that being his last chapter is heartbreaking. This is our last ditch effort of seeing if anyone out there could possibly do for a companion that mostly sleeps all day and is grateful for any attention. He has never been aggressive with adults. He is not great with other dogs if they are larger but if they are smaller it's always been okay. He's starting to have difficulty with stairs. Perhaps we are crazy to even post this but we have to feel like we tried everything. Thank you for reading and you're welcome to tell me if this is hopeless too! He means the world to us. We would be happy to cover food costs and even his euthanasia if that time comes in 6 or 12 months. He won't be able to walk much longer.
