Description

Head out to glorious Owen County for some homesteading skills. Make a day of it with lunch at Owen Valley Winery or the Civilian Brewing Company on the Square. Saturday Nov 13th, at 2pm we are hosting a demonstration of how to process a goat/lamb along with a presentation on knives and knife care. The participation fee is $25. Brandon and Katie Pugh own Lucky 3 Homestead in Zionsville, Indiana, where they raise Soay sheep, chickens, turkeys, rabbits, pigs, and honey bees. They are full time farmers and parents to 3 boys. A proud veteran family, Brandon served 8 years in the Army. Upon retirement from the military, Brandon went to culinary school where he was professionally trained and certified in butchering. In their free time, Brandon makes knives and Katie makes jewelry (both will be available at the workshop). On Nov 13th, Saturday, we are hosting a rabbit processing workshop at 11am. The fee to participate (and observe as much or little as you like) is $25; if you wish to try hands-on (which I recommend), then there is an additional cost of $15 for the rabbit (you take home the meat). On Saturday, November 20, we are having a workshop on processing turkey/chicken at 1pm. As with the rabbit workshop, participation is $25. For hands-on, participants you wish can practice on a chicken for $5 (the meat is yours).
