Skeeter is a 3-year-old, un-neutered, blue merle, Queensland Heeler/Mix that weighs 42lbs Skeeter is yet another fearful and under-socialized pup that needs a rescue placement with foster. Skeeter had been timid when first approached, but he recently came forward and took treats when staff was at his kennel. Although Skeeter appears nervous when he sees the leash, he tolerates its placement and walks out of his building readily. He doesn't care for other dogs at this time, he is scared and timid. However, once away from the shelter and other dogs, Skeeter relaxes, explores, allows petting and handling, and has been affiliative with staff. Skeeter has been reactive to dogs on the way back to his kennel but re-enters his kennel without issue, allowing petting, and giving tail wags. Skeeter’s behavior away from the shelter suggests that he could make good progress when in a more natural setting for a dog. Skeeter just needs a rescue and foster that understands fearful dogs and can provide a quiet, patient home where he can decompress and build trust.
