DECEMBER 2021 - Suicide Intervention Skills Training - GREENBRIER County WV About this Training: • Two-day workshop in Suicide Intervention Skills. • Learn and practice a Life-Saving Intervention model. • Widely used by professionals and the general public. ASIST is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first-aid. ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may be at risk of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. ASIST is a resource for the whole community. It helps people apply suicide first-aid in many settings: with family, friends, co-workers, and teammates, as well as formal care-giving roles. In the course of the two-day workshop, ASIST participants learn to: • Understand the ways personal and societal attitudes affect views on suicide and interventions. • Provide guidance and suicide first-aid to a person at risk; discuss suicide in a direct manner with someone at risk. • Identify the key elements of an effective suicide safety plan and the actions required to implement it with a person at risk of suicide. • Appreciate the value of improving and integrating suicide prevention resources, be able to list types of resources available to a person at risk, including themselves. • Recognize other important aspects of suicide prevention and includes life promotion and self-care for caregivers. A scientifically proven intervention model, ASIST helps build regional networks of trained caregivers who can support each other and use common language to approach suicide and safety. ASIST is only provided by certified ASIST LivingWorks Trainers. Suicide is preventable... but only when we know what to do. Pre-Registration is REQUIRED as space is limited to a specific number of participants. This training will take place DECEMBER 1st & 2nd, 2021. Training times are from 8:30am to 5:00pm. Must be present BOTH FULL DAYS to complete the training & receive certificate. (No late entry or early out on either day.) This training will take place in GREENBRIER County, West Virginia. This training is open to the public; any individuals/ organizations/ agencies are able to participate as long as pre-registration requirements are met. Must be 18 years or older to participate. This training is currently offered at a DISCOUNTED fee of $150 per participant. (Regular Participant Fee is $300. ) Fee covers materials necessary for the course both days. Fee is non-refundable. Cancellations made 72 hours prior to class may be applied toward a future ASIST Training; cancellations made less than 3-days in advance will not be refunded as space is limited & these courses fill to capacity.
