Description

Meet and hear from the Most Reverend Josiah Idowu-Fearon, Secretary-General of the Anglican Communion. We are honored to welcome the Most Reverend Josiah Idowu-Fearon to St. John the Divine. During this evening, you will have an opportunity to meet Archbishop Fearon and listen to how he became a Christian in Nigeria, learn about his work as Secretary General of the Anglican Communion as well as his life's calling of reconciliation between Christians and Muslims in Nigeria and how that is relevent to our time and place. As a bishop in Nigeria, Idowu-Fearon was a proponent of interfaith dialogue, bridge-building, and reconciliation. He views his commitment to bringing peace and understanding, and to help communities rebuild after violent conflict, as a call from the Lord: "A Muslim is not someone to hate," he says, "but rather someone to love." 6:30 pm: Heavy Hors d'eouvres 7:00 pm: Talk from Bishop Fearon followed by Q & A Childcare available for ages 0-6. You can ask for childcare as part of your ticket reservation. The event will also be livestreamed here. "My prayer to God is very simple, that I would be able to be a bridge builder; to create the culture of respect for differences, a culture of accepting people as human beings and loving them for who they are in Christ. If within the Communion, we have this understanding, we can live together with our differences.” — Most Reverend Josiah Idowu-Fearon
