In 2006, he landed his first Number One with Billy Currington’s version of his song, “Must Be Doin’ Something Right.” This earned him the coveted Music Row Magazine Breakthrough Writer Of The Year award and several ASCAP awards. Recently, he made his debut as a producer with Australian artist, Benn Gunn. The first single (which Jason also co-wrote), “Girls Like Guys With Trucks,” yielded an Australian three-week number one. He also produced Canadian artist, ex-Cold Creek County lead singer, Brandon Scott’s highly anticipated solo debut as well as EP releases with artists Cody Webb and Mick Lindsay. Other songs penned by Matthews include “Country Man,” “Drinkin’ Beer And Wastin’ Bullets,” and “Muckalee Creek Water” (Luke Bryan), “Break Down Here” (Julie Roberts), “One Night Stand” (Trace Adkins), “That’s Just Jesse” (Kevin Denney), “Life Happened” (Tammy Cochran), and “The Ball” (James Otto), “Drinkin’ With You”- Loving Mary (Steven Tyler’s band), “Lonely Eyes”(Chris Young), “That Thing We Do”(Blake Shelton), “When I Get It” (Craig Campbell), “You Didn’t Have A Good Time”(Randy Travis), and “One Last Time”(Dusty Drake).
