Come out and have some fun and socialize with other families with deaf/hard of hearing children. FREE PIZZA!!! ********************************************************************************************** Help us make the evening a success - RSVP by Friday, November 26th, 2021 Illinois Service Resource Center (www.isrc.us) Serving deaf/hard of hearing student behavioral needs A Service and Resource Center of the Illinois State Board of Education My name is Celesta and I am a wife and a mother to two handsome boys; a 7-year-old and a 3-year-old. My husband and I live in Marion, IL. When my 6-year-old was about 2.5 years old we found out he was profound deaf due to an illness he had when he was about 20 months old. At that point we knew we had to learn and try to do what every other parent does. Do what we believe what was best for our child and that is what we have done. Along this journey I realized there is not a lot of resources or actives in Southern Illinois for our children. I wanted to do more. I attended the South of Seventy Conference for Parents with children with Hearing Loss, which I would recommend to any parent, I learned about the Illinois Service Resource Center. “The Illinois Service Resource Center provides behavior support for students who are deaf, hard of hearing, or visually impaired in Illinois. Behavior support can be for individual students with challenges, or at the preventive level with classrooms or school programs. ISRC serves students with hearing loss regardless of communication mode.” -ISRC website (www.isrc.us) As the Parent Facilitator of Southern Illinois for ISRC my job is to coordinate services and activities for parents and families.
