Description

Celebrate St Andrew's Night with Bill Mullen and Students from the Scottish Arts programs in Dunedin In celebration of St Andrew, the patron Saint of Scotland,  we are very pleased to welcome Scotsman Bill Mullen for a special Concert. Originally from Dundee, Scotland, Bill grew up listening to Andy Stewart, The Corries, Hamish Imlach, and many others. After time spent living in Aberdeen, the Netherlands and Barcelona, Bill and his wife Dorothy moved to Lake Oswego, Oregon where his friend David Maher offered him a solo gig at Maher’s Irish Pub. Since 2013 Bill has been playing full time, offering a mix of Scottish, Irish, English and American songs, plus a few of his own, and traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada.  Bill was one of the Highlights of Tartan Week 2021 and we are delighted he is returning to help celebrate Scotland's St Andrew! The Show will open with members of the Isle of Skye Highland Dance Group as well as students from the Progressive Arts Theater Group, who all rehearse and develop their skills at the Scottish Cultural Center in Dunedin. They will be adding their own "Scottish Flair" to the Concert. Hot Dogs, Popcorn and Snacks will be Available for Purchase! The mission of the Scottish American Society of Dunedin is to preserve and promote the Scottish Arts & Culture in Dunedin. We hold traditional Scottish events and host the greatest in Celtic music, named our Haggis Celtic Concerts. Our building, the Scottish Cultural Center, was designated the City's first Historic Landmark and is located in delightful downtown Dunedin.
