"How Fathers Contribute to Community Success" and "Crisis to Connections - An Imperative for Black Youth" OBJECTIVE Making WCFI and its work with fathers and families known in the community and inviting others to partner in the work through community conversations regarding the importance and value of father involvement and engagement in improving birth outcomes, stronger families and overall community improvement. About the Event Having an involved, loving father is a key factor in children’s well-being. That’s why the Wayne County Fatherhood Initiative of Detroit is hosting a dynamic event on Thursday, November 18, 2021 that will bring together father- and family-serving providers, advocates, community members and stakeholders. Focusing the Fatherhood FLAME Community Conversations hosted by the Wayne County Fatherhood Initiative will be an energizing, collaborative event for people who are engaged in helping fathers become great dads. The event will feature produced video presentations by notable fatherhood experts, and CRISIS TO CONNECTION: An Imperative for our Black Boys presented by the Children's Center. The Focusing the Fatherhood FLAME Community Conversations event will discuss: • "The Situation" - Black boys over diagnosed with ADHD, under treated for trauma and disproportionately affected by implicit bias. "The Solution" - Using a philosophy that aligns beliefs, values and actions using a trauma-informed and anti-racist framework • "The Work" - Bringing together key systems leaders and community stakeholders to develop a comprehensive plan The event will take place on Wednesday, November 18th at 1:30 pm via Zoom.
