UT Student Robbed At Park Near West Campus In Central Austin

AUSTIN, TX — A University of Texas student was robbed at a neighborhood park near UT's West Campus early Thursday, campus police said. UT police and Austin police received a 911 call around 12 a.m. for a report of a robbery near 100 East 27th Street. A student said around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday a suspect sprayed them pepper spray and stole their cell phone at Adams-Hemphill Neighborhood Park. Police say the suspect is described as a man in his mid-20s, stands at 5-foot-10 inches tall, has curly hair and was last seen wearing a jacket and an N95 mask. Those on campus with information are asked to call UTPD's crime call number at 512-471-4441 and select extension 9. Austin police is also asking the community to call 311 if they have any information about this crime.
