Austin Parks In Need Of Volunteers For It's My Park Day Event

AUSTIN, TX — The Austin Parks Foundation is seeking volunteers for its annual city-wide volunteer event "It's My Park Day" on Saturday. There are about 75 projects to choose from that are in need of volunteers, the foundation said Thursday. Volunteer work will vary from mulching, planting, and park clean-ups. There are also fun specialty projects such as creating a pollinator garden at Overton Elementary, building a volleyball court at Pastor Craig Neighborhood Park, mulching at Gus Garcia Park and trail work at Walnut Creek Metro, officials said. The community can register online. Volunteers are invited to the following neighborhood spots to either fuel up on coffee ahead of their project or have a meal and a drink afterwards. Officials said individual commitments to helping with park maintenance, clean-ups and restoration during "It's My Park Day" every year is part of what makes Austin's park system so unique. Following public health guidance, Austin Parks Foundation is capping in-person projects at 25 volunteers. The hybrid-event will also have virtual opportunities available.
