Here are the top stories in Sacramento today: School officials in Citrus Heights are warning parents about students selling a new street drug. Mesa Verde High School administrators sent a letter to parents warning them about students secretly selling a new street drug called "Paint." It's a pill with psychedelic effects and is known to be highly addictive. The drug is described as a clear pill capsule with red/brown dust. School officials are urging conversation with your kids. The drug is said to sell for only $5 for a pill. School administrators say they're making progress in their investigation but they're asking for any additional information from students. (CBS Sacramento) The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting in South Sacramento. Officials said the shooting happened just before 3 a.m. Thursday on Stockton Boulevard, near Fruitridge Road. A man and woman were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No further details were available. (FOX40) According to county records, Florez Bar & Grill in Land Park was closed three times in one week after inspectors found cockroaches, reportedly discovered by handwashing sinks and in a dishwasher. The county said its Environmental Management Department received two reports — one from an individual and another for a group of nine — of people getting sick after eating at the restaurant on October 17. The restaurant has not yet passed re-inspection so it remains closed. (CBS Sacramento) The city has added speed bumps to the 5900 block of Lemon Hill Avenue where a deadly crash killed Lien Dang, an 87-year-old Sacramento grandmother. Councilmember Eric Guerra spearheaded the speed bump addition as part of a city plan to reduce crashes on and around the Stockton Boulevard corridor. (Good Day Sacramento)Families and students with the Sacramento City Unified School District can now enjoy a new community kitchen and garden. The district celebrated the opening of Floyd Farms at Leataata Elementary School on Wednesday. The state-of-the-art green space includes a prep kitchen, cooking school, training space and community programs.
