WEST CHESTER, PA — It's a classic story, it's in English, and it's under an hour long, all in the collegiate premiere of Moore and Rourke's Robin Hood at West Chester University. West Chester University's Opera Theater will present Robin Hood, with music by Ben Moore and libretto by Kelly Rourke on Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. Performances are staged in the 1200-seat Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall, Philips Memorial Building, 700 S. High Street, in West Chester. Wells School of Music's Director of Opera Nicholas Provenzale said, "We are thrilled to return to the stage with Robin Hood, a classic tale of triumph over corruption with a modern twist. Sung in English and just under an hour-long, this Robin Hood is packed with action and beautiful music. We invite the entire community to join us in this fun, family-friendly adventure." Moore and Rourke's Robin Hood premiered in 2017 at the Glimmerglass Festival, a professional summer opera company dedicated to producing new works. West Chester University's production will be the show's collegiate premiere. Composer Ben Moore met via Zoom with West Chester opera students on Wednesday for coaching and a question and answer session. The cast of Robin Hood includes Won Kim, of Elkins Park, as the title character and Evelyn Stohlman, of Dumfries, Virginia, as Marion. Other cast members include: Albert Gonzalez, of Scranton, as Sheriff , Sofia Bobrysheva, of Downingtow, as Scarlet, Aaron Hungerford of New Holland, as King Richard , Jessica McNeely of Yardley, as Scout, Jamie Quinter of West Chester, as Ronnie the Riveter, Abigail Agulnick of Parkesburh, as Jackie the Janitor, Matthew Quarles of Eden, New York, as Sam the Scribe, Joseph Galdi, of King of Prussia, as Jo the Jailor, and Micah Leary, of Eden, New York, as a collaborative pianist. Limited parking is available across and along the street just outside the Philips Memorial Building, the University said. Parking is also available in West Chester's M Lot, just a short walk South.
