Rehoming Border Collie Mix: Henna

Description

I’m rehoming my 6-year-old border collie mix; Henna. Henna was a village rescue from northern Alaska, and was sent to the Alaska SPCA rescue center in Anchorage in April 2017, where I adopted her on her 2nd birthday, April 25th, 2017. Henna lived her life in Alaska up until June 2021 when we made the move to Colorado. With my work schedule and lifestyle I have been realizing that I am not able to give her the time that she needs and deserves, and am looking for a family that can give her that. About Henna: Henna came to me with abandonment issues and mild anxiety. At first she did not like to leave my side, and was most comfortable inside the house or in the covered truck bed (her favorite place). Over the years she has gained some confidence and will put a little space between her and I, and is more comfortable out of the house, however most of the time she still prefers to be inside. She likes to bark at the door when left outside, unless you are out in the yard with her. She tends to bark fairly aggressively when new people approach or knock on the door. When she meets new people, especially bigger males, it is not uncommon for her to give them a little nip on the side of the leg. Once she gets to know someone, you will find that she is one of the biggest lovers out there. With other dogs she is hit or miss. Some dogs she instantly falls in love with. Others she tries to herd around and make sure they know they are in her space, aggressively bark at them, or get into minor fights with them that are more than anything just noise than actual contact. When introduced to new dogs I almost always keep her on leash at first. Henna is very frightened by loud bangs such as fireworks, and will do everything in her power to run back home or to the truck when they occur. Once you know and understand Henna, her issues are easy to work with. She is a huge lover, and will lay right by your side and make sure you feel it. Henna is very loyal, and protective of her people. She loves to go on walks, loves to play tug-o-war with both people and other dogs, and is always ready to play. Her unmatched personality is very unique and she will keep you smiling whenever you are around her. She does great inside the house when left during the day for work or other things. She is fully potty trained and knows basic commands such as sit, stay, lay down, no bark, come, load up, etc. She is great for getting out on easy to mild hikes, runs up to 3-4 miles long, and loves to adventure. She is also current on all shots and vaccines. Call or text me, Rob, at if you have interest or would like more information or pictures. I am also happy to set up meet snd greets if you would like to meet her. Thank you!
