JOLIET, IL — Joliet Police and Illinois State Police were working together Thursday night to investigate a shooting of a 63-year-old motorist that happened at the Interstate 80 exit ramp for Larkin Avenue. All westbound traffic along I-80 was being diverted to Route 53, Northern Illinois FireGround posted on its Facebook page. According to Joliet Fire Chief Greg Blaskey, Fire Station No. 6's ambulance rushed to I-80 at Larkin Avenue and found a 63-year-old driver who suffered a gunshot wound. The man was taken to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center where he remains in fair condition, Blaskey said. The Illinois State Police are investigating the shooting incident, Blaskey said. While doing one of his Facebook Live videos, Bob Hernandez was notified by Bishop Warren Dorris that the Prayer Tower Church along Stryker Avenue was hit by some of the I-80 gunfire. One person commented on the Northern Illinois Facebook page: "Just passed it heading east. They are looking for shell casings." Joliet Patch will update this story as more details are known.
