Bucks Co. Names November As Epilepsy Awareness Month

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — To help spread learning about a brain disorder affecting 65 million people worldwide, the Bucks County Commissioners proclaimed on Wednesday that November is now Epilepsy Awareness Month in the county. The Epilepsy Foundation of Eastern PA is working to educate the public this month, and representatives came to the Bucks County meeting to accept the proclamation and give a presentation. According to the foundation's website, an estimated 110,000 eastern Pennsylvanians are living with epilepsy locally. "We believe that leveraging our community's strength can reduce the fear surrounding epilepsy and inspire action," representatives wrote online. As written on the foundation website, the public can fulfill the mission this November in several key ways: By utilizing November as our chance to learn more about epilepsy and the people behind the numbers. By teaching others what a seizure is and is not. By using our social media as a platform to talk about epilepsy. By planning events to gather family and friends together to share, educate and fundraise.
