PORTLAND, OR — On Sunday morning at 2 a.m., it will suddenly become 1 a.m. Just as it has for 103 years. Almost the entire country will make the change from Daylight Saving Time back to Standard Time. Then, in March, it will be time to set it back to Saving Time. The thing is, two years ago the Oregon Legislature passed a bill doing away with changing the clocks twice a year. Oregon would just stay locked into Daylight Saving Time. Governor Brown signed it. There's a provision that says the change will only be made after California and Washington did the same. Washington's on board but California has yet to make the change. And even when all three states are in sync, the whole thing has to be approved by Congress. And those things usually go quite smoothly. So, come Saturday night, before you go to bed, don't forget to change the clocks that need changing (smart watches and cell phones do it automatically). This way you can enjoy that extra hour of sleep. For now.
