DARIEN, IL — In recent days, Darien police handled cases involving a domestic battery, an aggravated battery, a hit-and-run crash and a DUI, among others. Here is information from the latest Darien police reports: Domestic battery James Chmiel, 49, of Darien, was arrested about 5 p.m. Saturday at 67th Street and Echo Lane in Westmont on a charge of domestic battery. The domestic disturbance originated in Darien. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. Aggravated battery Frederick Lauer, 26, of Homer Glen, was arrested about 11 a.m. Oct. 25 on charges of aggravated battery, resisting arrest, failure to give information to an owner after striking unattended property, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and possession of alcohol by a driver. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, officers were called to a hit-and-run crash at 83rd Street and Lemont Road. Lauer's vehicle matched the description of the suspect's. Police found him in the 1900 block of 75th Street. Patch has filed a public records request for the full police report. Hit-and-run crash The driver of an SUV hit a parked car about 10:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at Speedway gas station, 7502 Cass Ave., and drove away. The SUV was last seen headed south on Cass Avenue. A Speedway customer witnessed the hit-and-run crash. DUI Jordan Petrovich, 25, of Woodridge, was arrested about 3 a.m. Sunday on Adams Street on charges of DUI, unlawful use of marijuana by a driver, transportation of open alcohol by a driver, failure to signal and improper passing on right. She was released and given a date to appear in court. According to a police report, an officer saw her car weaving left and right on the roadway. Driving violations Alejandro Escareno, 35, of Downers Grove, was cited about 10:30 p.m. Saturday on Lemont Road on charges of driving with a suspended license, no valid registration, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was released and given a date to appear in court. Erick Manrique, 28, of Chicago, was cited about 9:30 p.m. Saturday on Cass Avenue on charges of driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding. He was released and given a date to appear in court. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt.
