CLEANING SPECIALIST – LEVEL 1 PURPOSE: Maintains the premises of assigned off-site facilities in a clean and orderly condition as scheduled and according to the pre-determined standards. DESCRIPTION: • Sweeps, mops, scrubs, vacuums hallways, stairs, office space, etc. • Empties all trash receptacles and replaces trash can liners as needed. • Restocks all supplies as needed in all restrooms. • Cleans sinks, toilets, urinals, and mirrors/glass. • Notifies supervisor of supplies and equipment that are needed. • May perform duties of co-workers as required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Safety: • Complies with all safety rules. • Maintains a safe and clean work environment. • Understands that safety is practiced on a daily basis. • Reports all repairs and changes when required. • Follows all procedures in place, according to company policy and reports any unsafe/hazardous conditions to appropriate parties. Quality: • Works to assure that all tasks are performed with a commitment to excellence. • Consults with supervisor to correct any problems. Operations: • Consults with supervisor before task commences to ensure that all instructions are understood clearly. • Notifies crew leader of any changes or problems that may occur while on the job. Supply Requirements: • Notifies supervisor of needed supplies before task is started. • Notifies supervisor immediately of any problems that delay the start of any task assigned due to supply needs. Meetings/Trainings: • Participates in meetings and trainings as required. • Adheres to all company policies and procedures including policies on discrimination and sexual harassment as well as all company safety policies. Other duties as may be assigned. Job Knowledge/Skills: • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug test. • Good oral and written communication skills for positive and clear interactions with supervisors, co-workers and customers. • Excellent interpersonal skills. • Ability to function well in a team environment. • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds. • Ability to do repetitious bending at the waist and kneeling. • Ability to work from a 6ft. ladder. Education/Experience: • High school graduate or have acquired a GED preferred, but not required. • Janitorial experience or experience in cleaning and maintaining assigned facilities/buildings in a manner that meets or exceeds job expectations is preferred, but not required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have the use of sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing. Must be able to lift and move items over 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
