Adobe Lightroom has been around for over 15 years. The latest version of Lightroom Classic, 11.0, released in late October of 2021, has kept the basic pieces of Lightroom we all know and understand, but has made some some stunning and significant innovations to the masking selection process--organizationally, the displays, the menus, the types of possible masks, and most significantly, the way one works with "selections" to create complex masks almost flawlessly and in far fewer clicks and drags and erasers and effort than in the past. No matter how good a masking ace you are now--in any brand of editing software--this is better, easier, deeper, cleaner--and much, much quicker.
It is intimidating at first, but the opportunity to vastly improve your images by making clean and quick selections in ways never before possible--I would argue in any software--makes this initial struggle worth the time and effort--and opens up a myriad possibilities for your editing.
Jim Seith has been using Lightroom since its inception and uses the "old" masking functions and tools on almost every image. He has learned how to tiptoe into this incredibly powerful masking selection process within the normal Lightroom workflow. Join him to jump start your masking skills and take your Lightroom editing to another level.
