Stuck in a shelter and set to be euthanized Nov. 3, at 8am! Adopter needed or I will die! I did NOTHING wrong I am just mentally breaking down in my kennel! (Dog compatibility unknown) I am a 5-year-old, spayed black and tan German Shepherd (wt. 74.6 lbs.). I came to the shelter as a stray. Volunteers say that I “sit” for leashing and taking treats and will “sit” for my leash to be removed. One volunteer said that I was very sweet and appeared to enjoy all the love and pets she gave me. And I don’t seem to mind having my head, back and ears petted. My “walking on leash skills” are a mixed bag…sometimes I walk well and sometimes I pull. I am treat-motivated, which will be useful in training me. My reaction to dogs in kennel areas and around the shelter is different than when I am out on a walk. In the shelter, I am overly excited in proximity to other dogs and will pull towards them and try to fence fight. On a walk away from the shelter, a volunteer reported that I didn’t seem bothered by other dogs but seemed a little curious. Due to the medical status of the shelter population, I haven’t had an official dog-dog assessment, so It’s difficult to truly know how I might be with other dogs in a home. The shelter says that I need to be an only dog at this time and that children in the home must be 5+. I need an experienced adopter and training. I need a chance to live a full life.
