Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Initial The PALS Provider Course is designed to teach you the lifesaving skills required to be both a team member and a team leader in either an in-hospital or out-of-hospital setting. (When registering for this class: If your department is paying for class click "Pay at the Door", If you are paying for the class yourself click "Pay Now") PALS Provider Initial Course Participant: Meets Friday and Saturday, September 23 and 24, 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. Location: Lakeview Admin Office, 5803 Neal Ave N, Oak Park Heights, MN Additional instructions – For hospital or clinic employees, please wear your badge. This will allow you access to the building. If you are not an employee, entry instructions will be posted inside the second entrance corridor. How to Get Ready: The PALS Provider Certification Course is designed to teach you the lifesaving skills required to be both a team member and a team leader in either an in-hospital or out-of-hospital setting. You will need to prepare for the course beforehand. Students must have a current BLS Health Care Provider card to attend this class. PALS Provider Manual: If you are a Lakeview employee you can pick up a text book to use for this class in your department. If you are from outside of Lakeview you can pick up a text book to use for this class, or have one sent to you (please send an email with the address you would like the book sent to). You should prepare for the course as follows: 1. CPR competency: Be prepared for the child 1-rescuer CPR/AED and infant 1- and 2-rescuer CPR skills review. You will not be taught how to do CPR or how to use an AED during the course. You must know this in advance. 2. Supplement your knowledge: Review and understand the information in the PALS Provider Manual, pay particular attention to the systematic approach to pediatric assessment, algorithms, pharmacology, ECGs, and the core cases. If you have any physical conditions that might prevent you from engaging in any hands on activities, please tell an instructor. The instructor may be able to adjust the equipment for you.
