Description
Hear from consumers, family members, advocates, and law enforcement about the real challenges of the system in Maine. Community mental health services are dealing with unprecedented challenges as we emerge out of COVID and a legislative session where an unprecedented amount of money has been allocated. This is a remarkable opportunity and historic investment. We believe we are at an incredibly opportune moment to catapult the availability of services and innovation to this often misunderstood and sometimes maligned sector of our health care continuum. The Department of Health & Human Services staff have made big strides in moving us in that direction and we still see so much need, misunderstanding and stigma among wide swaths of the population and significant challenges to implementation of great ideas. We are hosting a summit of providers, consumers, advocates, and legislators this fall to continue the work of reducing the stigma of receiving mental health services and to make people aware of the range of opportunities to help people in a post-Covid environment. We will continue to highlight the need for strong foundational services and a vibrant workforce upon which we can build new and innovative approaches to both children’s and adult mental health services. Box lunch will be provided. COVID-19 UPDATE In an effort to keep our clients, fans and staff safe and healthy, the Augusta Civic Center has adopted the following guidelines for participation in events at the venue: If you are not vaccinated, we ask that you wear a mask inside the building.
