Take the Bait: Free Public Fishing Clinics in East River Park

Learn about the life and waters of the East River as you fish, using our rods and bait! The East River is an iconic waterway and feature of New York City. Help us build our database of the species of the river through community science angling. All are welcome, whether it's your first time fishing or you're a professional angler. Instruction, bait, and tackle will be provided. Fish will be released or kept temporarily for display. Proper precautions will be taken to socially distance and stop the spread of Covid-19. We require that all unvaccinated participants remain masked for the duration of the event. If you are vaccinated, you are welcome to remove your masks outdoors. If you choose to remove your mask, be prepared to show vaccine documentation. Participants should stay home if they are feeling ill or if they suspect exposure to Covid-19.
