Description

Create a “Nest of Life” in Celebration of Native American Heritage Celebrate Native American Heritage Month with environmental artist and educator Tony Valderrama and Shinnecock ambassador Shane Weeks by creating a “Nest of Life” art installation and participate in a native song and dance at Downs Farm Preserve in Cutchogue. The "Nest of Life" is an ongoing series of nature sculptures celebrating the return of our eagles, ospreys, and other feathered friends. All the natural materials utilized can be used by birds for their own nests. Valderrama states, "it is meant to be a gift given back to nature.” Downs Farm Preserve, also known as Fort Corchaug, is a 51-acre National Historic Landmark and site of a palisaded fort used by the Indigenous Corchaug tribe. Parking is limited so please carpool if possible. Space is also limited and registration is required. For more information and to sign up, please contact Group outreach director Taralynn Reynolds at [email protected].
