Join us on Saturday, December 4th, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. for our family-friendly holiday event. Enjoy a free walk-through of the entire Museum Home! Snap holiday photos inside the decorated Home, while listening to carols played on our 1906 player piano. Then head upstairs to visit with Mr. Riley himself as he prepares for another Hoosier Christmas!
This year, in order to control crowd size, the Home will offer free timed tickets, with 75 tickets available for each hour of the open house. Please make your reservation today and we look forward to seeing all of you on Saturday, December 4th!
After walking through the Home visitors can head over to the Billie Lou Wood Visitor Center to pose with Santa Claus! Every year, he dives deep into his wardrobe to dust off his Victorian attire for his visit to the James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home!

528 Lockerbie Street is a true preservation of the Victorian home the great Hoosier Poet, James Whitcomb Riley, resided in the last twenty-three years of his life. The James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home opened to the public in 1922, and has been offering a glimpse into the history of James Whitcomb Riley and his Victorian world for the last ninety-two years. The home features the same furnishings and ornate décor Mr. Riley enjoyed during his lifetime. Visitors to our Museum Home will see beautiful ceilings painted by Italian Artisans, the desk where Mr. Riley penned some of his most well known works such as Little Orphant Annie and The Raggedy Man, and a myriad of other treasures.
