The University of Indianapolis’ “Making Our Way Home” series amplifies diverse viewpoints & prescient issues, while incorporating Yaa Gyasi’s novel Homegoing throughout the school year for a chorus of authenticity. In “The Message is in the Music: The African American Experience Through Song” Ted Frantz Ph.D., History and Political Science department chair, Iman Tucker MBA, UIndy alum and owner of Believe Brand Co., and others will highlight how music can serve as a catalyst for resistance, change, and revolution. Their talk will tackle the power of creativity to challenge authority, will include song snippets, and have a question-and-answer portion. The conversation will be held in UINDY Hall A in the Schwitzer Student Center on Tuesday, November 16th from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. All guests are asked to abide by University policies regarding masks and distancing. Finally, this program has been made possible through a grant from Indiana Humanities, in cooperation with the National Endowment for the Humanities, and from The Indianapolis Foundation, a CICF affiliate.
