Description

JCC East Bay's free monthly Friday film series for all teens around the Bay! We're kicking off our teen program taster with a monthly free Friday film series! Join us as we dive into true stories from around the world, covering the past, present, and future. After the film, teens are welcome to join in group discussions over snacks*. Please note that registration is required and all teens must provide proof of vaccine prior to entering and remain masked. Light refreshments will be provided and consumed outside. We recommend warm layers and a reusable thermos to fill up on hot beverages post-film. 11/12: Gather [TV-14] With the upcoming holiday, Thanksgiving, approaching, our first film event of the season will take a closer look at the growing movement amongst Indigenous Americans to reclaim their spiritual and cultural identities through obtaining sovereignty over their ancestral food systems, while battling against the historical trauma brought on by centuries of genocide. Upcoming Films: 12/10: One of Us [TV-14] Hoping to gain a deeper understanding of the orthodox Jewish world, our teens are invited to watch this documentary that penetrates the insular world of New York's Hasidic community, focusing on three individuals driven to break away despite threats of retaliation. Questions? Please reach out to Brianna Sommer, Director of Youth & Teen Programs at [email protected]! Covid Protocols: All JCC staff are fully vaccinated. All attendees will have to show proof of vaccination prior to entering. Everyone will have to be masked the entire time except when eating which will take place outside. *All food provided will be vegetarian. Please email Brianna with any food allergies or dietary restrictions. The JCC East Bay creates healthy communities inspired by Jewish values, culture, and tradition. Our vision is to be a geographically accessible home that provides high-quality programs and gathering spaces throughout the East Bay to advance, nurture, and evolve Jewish communal life and contribute to the vitality of the broader community. The JCC East Bay stands for equal rights and safety for people of all backgrounds and faiths. We welcome and support our diverse Jewish community, people of all religions, nationalities, and socioeconomic backgrounds, communities of color, people with disabilities, and the LGBTQ community. ********************************************************* By signing up for an event, you agree to receive emails from JCC East Bay.
