Trumpet player needed for a 10-piece soul/funk/rock cover band that includes a 4-piece horn section (2 trumpets/tenor & bari-sax). Jazz/swing/funk and/or big band horn section and live performance experience a plus. Improv skills are desired but not necessary. Potential artists covered include horn-driven tunes from Stevie Wonder, Tower of Power, Chicago, Sam & Dave, The Temptations and Wilson Pickett just to name a few. All musicians in the band are vaccinated for Covid and any musician we bring on-board must be vaccinated as well. The band is made up of some very solid, well-known Bellingham musicians on the current local scene coming together for this exciting new project. Must be available for rehearsals from 7-9 PM on Tuesdays with no other Tuesday night band conflicts. Our band has rented a large, Covid-safe rehearsal facility in Whatcom county. We are rehearsing currently with a goal of starting to perform gigs in early spring and into summer of 2022. We are seeking a trumpet player with: - Strong talent to play at a high level with a solid range - An ability to read music charts (some purchased, others written in-house) - Professionalism and discipline in rehearsals and at gigs - Good energy and stage presence - Reliability and trustworthiness - A desire to have fun and entertain - Solid ability to self-prepare in advance for rehearsals - A commitment to excellence An audition or at minimum some video of your trumpet playing will be required.
